Q: Are you able to accommodate large groups?

A: Yes! Lava Campground loves hosting large groups. We offer spacious group tent site areas, and depending on the size of your group, multiple sites may be needed. Please give us a call and we’ll be happy to help you find the best setup for your group.


Q: What amenities do you have?

A: Our on-site camp store offers essentials and forgotten items, we filling propane, and have firewood for purchase so you’re always ready for a cozy night around the fire. Guests have access to clean flushing toilets, hot showers, and a convenient laundry facility to keep things fresh during longer stays. We also provide a well-maintained dump station for RV travelers, making arrivals and departures simple and stress-free. Everything you need is right here, so you can focus on relaxing and enjoying your time at Lava Campground.


Q: Are pets allowed in the retro campers?

A: No, pets are not allowed inside the retro campers. However, pets are welcome in the campground and may stay with you outside the camper.


Q: Do you have WiFi?

A: WiFi is currently only available at the store.


Q: Are more than 2 people allowed in a retro camper?

A: Most of our retro campers accommodate 2 guests. However, Dottie, Lily, and Shasta can sleep up to 3 guests, and Lucy can accommodate up to 4 guests.


Q: Do you have a place to park extra vehicles?

A: Yes, we have a designated parking lot for extra vehicles at no additional charge. If an extra vehicle is parked at your campsite, a $10 fee will apply.


Q: Do you allow extra vehicles at the campsite?

A: Yes. Extra vehicles parked at your site are $10 per night and will be charged to the card on file. Vehicles parked in the designated overflow lot are free of charge.


Q: Do you allow pets? How many pets can I have?

A: Yes, we are pet friendly! Pets must be kept on a leash and may not be left unattended. We allow up to 2 pets per site. There is a $3 fee per pet, per night.


Q: Can I check in early or check out late?

A: Early check-in and late check-out are often available. Please call ahead so we can do our best to accommodate your request.


Q: What time is check-in and check-out?

A: Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.


Q: Does the campsite include hot pool entry?

A: No. Pool access is not included with your stay. The hot pools are a separate, state-owned facility.


Q: Can I bring my own firewood?

A: Yes, you may bring your own firewood. We ask that you do not split wood on-site and that you remove any unused wood when you leave.


Q: Do you sell firewood?

A: Yes! Firewood is available for $5. You can purchase it online at checkout, at the camp host site, or by calling us for delivery directly to your site.


Q: Does each site include a fire pit and picnic table?

A: Yes, all sites include a fire pit and picnic table.


Q: Are campfires allowed?

A: Yes, campfires are allowed in designated fire pits only.


Q: Is there a walking path to town?

A: Yes, there are two scenic mountain trails located on the west side of the campground. One trail is approximately 1 mile into downtown Lava Hot Springs, and the other is a ½ mile route toward the KOA area.


Q: How far is Lava Campground from Lava Hot Springs?

A: We are located just 1 mile east of Lava Hot Springs.


Q: Do you have restroom and shower facilities?

A: Yes, we offer clean flushing toilets and showers. Along with laundry and an on-site store.


Q: How many people are allowed per site?

A: The base rate includes 4 guests per site. Additional guests may be added for $3 per person, per night (maximum of 6 guests per site). Group sites allow 4 guests per tent (example: a 4-tent group site includes up to 16 guests base). Additional guests may be added up to 6 per tent.


Q: Can I add a tent to my RV, tent, or retro camper site?

A: Yes. Adding a tent is allowed for $20 per night, charged to the card on file.


Q: What are your rates?

A: Pricing is available online when booking. Base rate includes: 4 guests, 1 RV or site, and 1 vehicle.


Additional fees:

$3 per extra guest (max 6 per site)

$3 per pet, per night (max 2 pets)

$20 per tent, per night

$10 per extra vehicle, per night

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Cancellations must be made by phone at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival by 3:00 PM to receive a refund, minus a 10% per-site cancellation fee. Email and text cancellations are NOT accepted. No-shows or late cancellations will forfeit the full reservation amount.


Q: Do you offer discounts? How do I apply them online?

A: We offer 10% discounts for military members and senior citizens. Please call us to receive your promo code before booking online.
